The movie itself is set in New York, however after one of the letters turns out to be a surprise trip to Ireland they find themselves trekking along the Wicklow Mountains. The scene where Holly and Gerry first meet is at the Sally Gap. While they walk together to find ‘Dun Laoghaire’ they are in fact in the beautiful village of Lacken, overlooking the Blessington lakes.
The pub scenes in which they are singing and dancing at a bar were filmed at Whelan’s pub, on Wexford Street, in Dublin.
